“Birthstones – Gems of Individuality”
Birthstones are the Gemstones that are associated with ones month of Birth. These could be precious stones like diamonds or could be semi-precious like Lapis Lazuli. These birthstones are associated with particular months and they are considered lucky for people born in that particular month.
Let’s say if someone is born in January then birthstone for January garnet will be good for that particular person. For those who believe in such things, the healing powers of these birthstones get heightened during their months. So if you’re born in April then your birthstone is the Diamond and you will get the most benefit from diamonds by wearing them in April.
Birthstones are gemstones of individuality. There are basically two types of Birthstone lists, the modern and the traditional list. The Traditional list contains older birth stones and is sometimes combined with the modern birth stone list. These stones reflect societal birth stone traditions, heralding back to the 15th century.
The Modern List contains the official birth stone list from the American National Association of Jewelers, Jewelers of America. These gemstones were officially adopted in 1912.
The Ayurvedic Indian Medicine front has also given is an Ayurvedic Birth stone list. George Frederick Kunz is his well known book “The Curious Lore of Precious Stones” has proposed wonderful list of birth stones from different cultures.

June – Pearl
Pearls are the birth stone for the month of June. A pearl allows a person to open up and find the meaning and the purpose of one’s “true self.” They are believed to enlighten the mind and inspire the mood. They uplift feelings and also improve good will and positivity.
July – Ruby
Ruby is the traditional stone for the month of July. Ruby stimulates nurturing emotions and economic stability. It is also Excellent for shielding from psychic attacks and gathering and amplifying energy. It also plays a great role in curing blood-related health issues.
August – Peridot
Peridot is the stone for the month of August. Peridot balances emotional mind and calms emotional storms. It also aids digestion and insomnia and increases psychic powers.
September – sapphire
Sapphires mark the month of September. A sapphire gem is believed to promote light, pure emotions – purity of mind, serenity, joy, and peace. It is also said to open the mind to beauty and love and it also clears unwanted thoughts.

November – Topaz

December – Tanzanite and Turquoise
